.HOMEWOOD BALLROOM DANCE MARATHON

 

The Sixth Annual Homewood Dance Marathon will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 26^th, 27^th, & 28^th, 2008.  Weekend pass includes three full-length general dances with live bands! – Seven hours of workshops! – Exhibitions! – Dancing With the Birmingham Stars! – Dance-related Vendors – An entire weekend of DANCE!  A dancer’s dream.  Attend ALL or PART of the weekend.  Early registration (by 8/31) for a weekend pass is $85.00.  ($105.00 after 8/31).  This weekend dance event will take place at the Homewood Community Center, 1632 Oxmoor Rd., and The Exceptional Foundation, 1801 Oxmoor Rd., (which is adjacent to the Community Center), both in Homewood, Alabama.  Please call the Homewood Senior Center at 205-332-6500 for registration information.  The Dance Marathon is a fundraiser for the Homewood Senior Center, and all proceeds will be donated to the Center.

 

Night Time Dance Scheduled for August 8^th

 

BBDA will hold a nighttime dance at the Homewood Senior Center on August 8^th.  The Tradewinds have been booked to play at the event.  The dance is scheduled to begin at 7:00.  No dance lesson is scheduled for this evening dance.  

  

The Senior Health and Fitness Day was held May 28 at Brookwood Mall.

 

This year our dance event was held in front of Macy’s Department store on the upper level of the mall. Ray Newman played for the dancers that included many BBDA members as well as line dancers from several of the senior centers. This event was jointly sponsored by BBDA and Smart Moves. BBDA members who attended the event were Lily Eagleson, Mary Ann McKim,  Carol Shubert, Madrene Roberts, Jackie Tally, Cecelia Ebert,  Fred and Ann Gipson, Charlie Boone, Larry and Sheila Taylor.

 

All Star Dance Camp Tunica, Mississippi

 

All Star Dance Camp, Sam’s Town, Tunica, Mississippi, will be held July 13 – 17, 2008.  Several of our members are planning to attend this dance camp.  They include Priscilla Collums, Mohamed Abdel-Ghany, Al Finley, Charlie Thornburg, Jackie Tally, Madrene Roberts, Ceal Ebert, and Susie Robbins.
