North Alabama
Dance Club
Presents
A Bachata Workshop
Bachata is a simple but romantic dance
originating from the Dominican Republic that
includes both sensual & syncopated dance steps.
The main character of the dance is that the
dancers appear to feel the music & connect to
each other & the music.

Workshop will be taught by Daniel Stevenson,
assisted by Amanda Washington
Daniel Stevenson has been dancing since he was
thirteen years old. He started when his sister
asked him to accompany her to a dance class for
home-schooled youths taught by Tammy Wilson and
Linda Hong in Chattanooga. He found that he had
a talent for dance and quickly became the best
male ballroom dancer in the studio. Because of
his superior dance abilities, Daniel was
employed by The Dance Studio in Tupelo the
summer after he graduated from high school. He
moved to Tupelo and then, in the fall, to
Starkville, MS, to pursue a degree in Electrical
Engineering at Mississippi State University
where he is on the President's List. There he is
active in the student association for
Presbyterian college students and he holds the
role of teacher trainer for the MSU Ballroom
Dance club. Daniel will be assisted in the
Bachata workshop by Amanda Washington, the
president of the MSU ballroom dance club. Daniel
is a DIVIDA certified ballroom professional. In
addition to his training from Tammy Wilson, he
has received advanced private coaching from
Felipe Telona, Jr., Kashia Kozak, Ron Montez,
Jim Maranto and Jenell Maranto.
